Movement, Creativity, and Courage can lead us to our collective Evolution
Movement
Yoga is an ancient practice brought to the US and since it has been colonized and watered down. I believe deeply in the practice and I want to add this acknowledgement that I have not learned the practice from source culture both in the practice and in the teaching of the practice. When I was younger, it wasn’t something that mattered to me, but as I have grown in many directions, who I learn from has been a very important factor to w hat I am learning. I have felt a desire to reinvest in relearning from source culture and thankfully the access to teachers is greater than it used to be. I currently follow SACREDSPACE and NIKYYOGA on TikTok for many teachings and I appreciate their contribution along with many other teachers and creators.
Yoga has given me many gifts along the years. Since 1998, I have practiced many forms, learned how to teach and have experienced over half of my life as a yogi. Not all that time has been spent on the mat and when I am referring to movement, I don’t just mean the moving of the body. Our thoughts have to move, our ideas, our beliefs etc. We are constantly moving and shaping the world within us and through the practice of yoga we give ourselves an inner landscape that can navigate the silence and listen to what can’t always be heard, our HigherSelf.
Creativity
We are creators.
Everyday we are creating the world around us. Creating experiences and responses, problems and solutions, peanut butter and jelly. Along the way we were forced to leave our creativity, or think we did, on the back burner to pursue happiness in the form of a job and a paycheck so we can afford the astronamical amount of money it costs to just exist on this planet as a human being. I was, and am, one of those people in the midst of recognizing the artist in me is a contribution I want to pursue with a more serious intention to be vulnerable. As I have reached this 50th year, I have begun to notice how much I have shied away from the vulnerable and the intimate parts of life. I have taken everything else far more serious when it needed to be the other way around for my growth and overall well-being. I am currently in pursuit of opening up the vault of my imagination and sharing my creativity because I have finally realized, or begun to realize, everything is a perfect expression of myself and my creator.
COURAGE TO EVOLVE
Be courageous to create the life that allows you to move in-sync with your HigherSelf. This is about freedom and discovery and much more. How can you make moves, big or small, to gain a sense of freedom and peace of mind in the midst of the world today? Not self-care, it’s SELF-PRESERVATION and it is vital to the future we want to create.
